Yoga is a variation of exercise derived from India. It is an excellent form of exercise for strength and flexibility, and can assist in improving posture and joint strength. With the concentration throughout the hour focused on your breathing it can reduce your blood pressure and relieve stress. There is also the added benefit of tension release and helping you sleep better.
At the Weight Care Centre we offer a form of flow yoga where we move straight from one move into the other. This increases your heart rate, therefore increasing the metabolism and giving an all-round workout – perfect for any age and training level. The classes are small and intimate and can be tailored to everyone’s needs.
PILATES
Pilates is a form of exercise which is perfect for increasing strength, balance and muscle tone. The class focuses on breathing techniques, which strengthen up your transverse abdominis and pelvic floor muscles. By increasing the strength in this region, posture is greatly improved and this allows for heavier lifting in the gym. Through using your own body weight, injury is minimal, yet benefits and improvements are quickly noticed.
This beneficial workout is perfect for people of all ages, especially for postnatal women and people with lower back pain.
